Telegram
CCCFreeChannels, groups and a Bot API good enough to be the front door of a personal or company AI assistant.
What it is
Telegram is a messaging app with three primitives that matter for an operator: channels (one-to-many broadcast with unlimited subscribers), groups with topics, join requests and admin roles, and bots. The Bot API is HTTP, needs no app review, supports webhooks, inline keyboards, files, payments and Mini Apps, and a bot can approve join requests, which turns a group into a gated room controlled by your own database. The client apps are fast on every platform, and the desktop and web versions make it usable as a work channel, not only a chat.
The service is free; Telegram Premium adds cosmetic and limit-related features for individual users and is not required for bots or groups.
Where it fits in the AI OS
Work OS, the notification and command surface. A bot that receives "ship the digest" and replies with what it did is the smallest possible UI for an AI operating system, and it works from a phone. It also sits in the Personal AI OS as the front end of a personal assistant.
Insider notes
membersHow Serge's stack uses it
Serge runs a public Telegram channel and links to it from bulaev.ai. In the membership, Telegram is a bonus channel, not the community: the feed on the site is the community, and Paid and Gold members get private groups where a bot verifies membership by tier and handles join requests and removals when a subscription lapses. His earlier bot factory for LinkedIn content runs Telegram bots on Cloudflare Workers with the Bot API, the pattern reused for the membership's gatekeeper bot. A public telegram-channel-saver tool in his GitHub archives channels to local files.
Setup in 5 minutes
- Message @BotFather,

- Handle
chat_join_requestin the Worker: look up the user's tier, callapproveChatJoinRequestordeclineChatJoinRequest.
