Granola
FreemiumAn AI notepad that transcribes meetings without a bot in the call and turns them into notes and actions.
What it is
Granola records the audio of whatever meeting is on your computer (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, a phone call through the speakers) without adding a visible bot to the call, transcribes it in the background and turns your rough typed notes plus the transcript into a clean summary with action items and follow-ups. It syncs with your calendar, prepares a short brief before a meeting from previous notes with the same people, and has a chat over your meeting history. It runs on macOS, Windows, iOS, Android and Apple Watch; notes are private by default and shared only when you choose.
The site states a free tier with unlimited meeting notes viewable for 30 days and a paid tier for access to older notes; see the pricing page for current plans.
Where it fits in the AI OS
Work OS, the meeting layer. Meetings are the largest source of undocumented decisions in a small company. If the notes and action items land in a place agents can read (a Linear issue, a Notion page, a Markdown file), the meeting becomes an input to the system rather than a memory in one person's head.

Setup in 5 minutes
- Install the desktop app, connect your calendar, allow system audio and microphone.
- Join any call; type three bullet points of what you noticed.
- After the call, open the note: the transcript is folded in, the summary is generated from your bullets plus what was said.
- Pick a template ("customer call", "1:1") so action items come out in the same shape each time.
- Set up the export or integration you will actually use (copy to Linear or Notion) and do it for one week without exception.
Alternatives
- Otter.ai / Fireflies / Fathom — bot-based recorders with transcripts and CRM integrations.
- Notion AI meeting notes — if your notes already live there.
- Zoom / Google Meet built-in AI summaries — no install, tied to one platform.
- Whisper locally + a summarizing script — free, private, more setup.
